Crop an image, photo or picture into a circle in seconds. This is the same cropper as the homepage tool opened in circle mode: drag the ring over the face or object you want, and download a PNG with a transparent background — no upload, no sign-up.
Circular crops are everywhere now: profile pictures, WhatsApp display photos, team pages, badges and stickers. Because the picture is masked rather than stretched, everything inside the circle stays exactly as sharp as the original. Need a different shape? Oval, rounded-rectangle, heart and star are one tap away, and every shape keeps the same straighten, zoom and resize controls.
Cropping for a round avatar? The WhatsApp DP and profile picture presets give you a square with a circle guide, which is what most apps expect. Our guide on how to crop a picture into a circle explains when to use which.
What you can do here
Perfect circle
The crop box stays square, so the circle is never squashed. Resize from any corner.
Transparent PNG
Everything outside the ring is saved as transparency — drop it on any background.
Oval & rounded
Unlock the ratio for an oval, or choose rounded corners with a radius slider.
Heart & star
Novelty shapes for stickers and cards, exported with clean anti-aliased edges.
Solid background
Pick white, black or any colour to save as JPG instead of PNG.
Straighten first
Rotate and straighten before masking so faces sit level inside the circle.
1× or 2× output
Double the pixel size for print or high-density screens.
Batch circles
Add several photos and crop each into a circle with the same settings.

Questions about cropping
How do I crop a picture into a circle?
Upload the picture, drag the circle over the part you want, resize it from a corner, and press Download. The result is a PNG with a transparent background outside the circle.
Will the background outside the circle be transparent?
Yes, by default. The area outside the circle is saved as transparent pixels in a PNG (or WebP where the browser supports it). If you prefer a solid background, pick a colour under Shape → Background and you can save as JPG.
Can I crop into an oval instead of a perfect circle?
Yes. Choose Oval under Shape. The oval follows whatever box you drag, so you can make it as tall or as wide as you need.
Which size should a round profile picture be?
Most apps display a square and mask it to a circle: WhatsApp 500×500, Instagram 320×320, LinkedIn 400×400, Discord 512×512. Crop a square with the circle guide, then set the output size under Export. Because the platform applies its own mask, you usually do not need to export a transparent circle for profile pictures — the Profile picture and WhatsApp DP presets on the main cropper handle that.
Does the circle crop reduce image quality?
No. Pixels inside the circle are copied 1:1 from the original. Only the shape changes. Use the 2× scale chip under Export if you want a larger output for print or retina displays.
Are there other shapes?
Rounded corners with an adjustable radius, heart and star. Every shape exports with transparency and the same crop, straighten and resize controls as the rectangular cropper.
Is my photo uploaded to crop it?
No. The circle is a clipping path on a canvas element inside this tab: the pixels outside it are simply never painted, and the transparent PNG that comes out is written by your browser's own encoder. There is no upload step to opt out of, because the site has no route that would accept a file.
